Jayne Toyne

Jayne Toyne is an STCW, GMDSS and Yacht Master Ocean qualified maritime professional skipper and marine tech specialist as well as NCTJ qualified photojournalist since 1997.

A problem solver and solutions finder for boats that go offshore.

Jayne owns several boats, including a Dehler 36, which is used for offshore adventures, and also Rustler 31 (built 1971)

On and around boats for over 40 years, Jayne has covered many thousands of miles, on practically every type of boat available, from offshore racing yachts, sailing dinghies, RIBS, coastal sculling boats, flybridge cruisers, a host of weird and wonderful sailing machines, plus the odd tug boat and windfarm vessel.
She is an STCW, GMDSS and YM Ocean qualified maritime professional as well as NCTJ qualified photojournalist since 1997 and became Senior HE Lecturer in Journalism in 2013, having lectured at Southampton, London and Falmouth Universities.
Jayne has covered and raced in every edition of the Bi-annual Yachting Monthly Triangle race since 2012 and owns a Dehler 36 and a Rustler 31. She has also raced various offshore races, including the Round Ireland, Round Isle Of Wight, Azores and Back, Middle Sea Race, various other JOG races and has crossed the Atlantic short handed.
With a Masters degree in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism, her area of academic research is immersive interactive story telling.
Jayne co-ordinates testing and gets hands on with all new gear in the leisure marine market.
